Record: Spyder Aiming for Rs 170 Cr Business

Mahesh Babu's 'Spyder' is all set to ring in a new record after Baabubali 2, in terms of pre-release business among Telugu movies.

Although the makers have not sold off all territories in Andhra Pradesh, they are confident of closing the business to the tune of Rs 90 Cr for the Telugu version.

Theatrical distribution rights for Tamil version have already been snapped up for record Rs 23 Cr by Lyca Productions.

The movie’s satellite rights (Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam) were closed for record Rs 26 Cr.

Theatrical rights for Hindi and Malayalam are likely to fetch another Rs 25 Cr. So, altogether the producers are looking at Rs 170 Cr pre-release business from theatrical rights, digital rights and satellite rights.

Except “Baahubali 2”, no Telugu film did such business so far. Hence, Mahesh Babu and director Murugadoss’s movie is going to create another record.

The movie is being made with Rs 120 Cr. So, the producers would be enjoying a minimum of Rs 50 to 60 Cr table profit even before release.

Fans of Mahesh Babu have been worrying about the movie’s delay, but the record business gives them a reason to celebrate.

The combination of Mahesh Babu and Murugadoss has already created a lot of craze among trade circles.

It also proves the star power of Mahesh Babu. He can make such business minus the name of Rajamouli.
