NATS Celebrated 'Balala Sambaralu - 2012'

NATS Celebrated 'Balala Sambaralu - 2012' for next generation Telugu Kids in Dallas

Dallas, TX: NATS (North America Telugu Society) organized Balala Sambaralu – 2012 on a grand scale at the Lewisville MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville, TX. Several competitions including Classical and Non-Classical Dances and Singing, Telugu Vocabulary, Essay Writing and Chess were conducted. This one day event was organized on the occasion of Children’s day celebrating Nehru Jayanthi.

More than 100 children participated in these competitions and showcased their talents with great vigor and enthusiasm. Children participated the competitions in 2 separate groups -Juniors from grades K to 4th and Seniors from 5th grade to 8th. All the performances were very competitive where the children showcased their skills and talents and convinced everyone that they will be for the torch bearers of Indian culture, language and traditions for future generations to come.

The program was coordinated by Bapu Nuthi, Veena Yelamanchali and Srinath Jandhyala of the NATS Dallas team. All competitions were judged by music and dance teachers, professionals and individuals with cultural, literary and entertainment background and various local organizations. Savitha Namuduri and Aparna Velamuri acted as judges for Classical singing whereas Kalyani Avula, Srilatha Suri, Pranamya Suri and Roopa Banda acted as judges for Classical Dances whereas Rajesh Chilukuri, Sahiti Solasa acted as judges for Non-Classical Dances. Telugu Vocabulary competitions were coordinated by Ananth Mallavarapu, and Ramana Juvvadi and Chandrahas Maddukuri acted as judges. English Essay Writing was coordinated by Harish Korapati and Sreelu Mandiga. The Chess competitions received overwhelming response and were conducted under the guidance of US Chess Federation and were coordinated by Krishna Vallapareddy and Venkat Kodali.

IPod Shuffles and AMC Movie tickets were awarded for 1st and 2nd place winners and all participants received participation certificates. Parents, children and attendees of the event commended NATS for bringing this one of a kind event where the children were given an opportunity to showcase their talents at an individual level. NATS was very pleased to have the honor of providing a platform for the next generation Telugu kids to exhibit their talents.  On this occasion, NATS 2103 America Telugu Sambaralu conveners Srinivas Koneru and Vijay Velamuri thanked all the children and parents for participating in Balala Sambaralu and invited them to take part in the Sambaralu 2013 convention that will be held in Dallas from July 4 – 6 2013 at Irving Convention Center.
