An event being organized by Global Hindu Heritage Foundation in conjunction with Sanatana Dharma Foundation. Dr. Subramanian Swamy will talk about the current state of the Temples in India.
A Symposium is being organized on Friday 28rd August 2015 (7 PM) with the topic “Protection and Restoration of Hindu Temples” at Jack Singley Auditorium in Irving, TX.
Temple is much more than a place of worship for most people. There are ton of memories and special events that fill ones lives. Many devotees reminisce their childhood connections with a Temple, and are upset over the control of Government that suffers basic maintenance. Some of these temples have a history of more than 1000 years.
These temples are not just places of worship but also have great historical background. They are living artifacts. They are the places where the community used to come together. Devotees used to go to temple to learn about our scriptures. They are the places that showcase our heritage and are the places that will let our culture survive through next generations.
Instead of protecting, preserving and maintaining them, these temples are being neglected after being taken over by the Government. Priests from some temples do not get paid regularly. Some temples are not given funding to do basic rites on a daily basis. Some temples do not have funding to celebrate festivals.
Dr. Swamy has fought the case against many Governments and freed up Temples from the control of Governments. He is indeed a living ray of hope in resurrecting the past glory to our Temples.
The Dallas community is looking forward to hear the first hand experience of Dr Swamy on the Chidambaram Temple and the current situation of Temples in India from the control of Government stand point and the efforts needed to protect and restore the Temples.
There is lot of excitement in the community regarding Dr. Swamy’s visit to Dallas. As maybe aware, Dr. Swamy is an economist with PhD from Harvard and past professor in Harvard and IIT Delhi, an astute Politician who was past President of Janata Party, 5 times Member of Parliament, Past Union Cabinet Minister of Commerce and Law a champion of anti-corruption who unearthed the 2G scam and a strong Hindu who fought against demolition of Rama Setu bridge, fought to remove government interference in Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram.
