Dallas braces to a high octane Cricketing event

Being away from home, you may reminisce the good old days of what sport you loved to play. A country dominated by Football, Baseball and Basketball playing Cricket is no longer considered a taboo.

A research provides credible information that Cricket is now the fasting growing sport after Soccer in the United States, and don’t need to thank the Indian origins for taking the lead on making the sport popular where the Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants rule the roast.

Dallas which is leading in all spheres of life has Cricket clubs that no other city in the country has. With over 300 teams the North Texas Cricket Association is the leading cricket association that holds premier divisional leagues and a host of other format of the modern day cricket.

Among them is the rise of Dallas Premier League aka. DPL in no comparison to the Indian Premier League however borrowing the spirit from the IPL, DPL promises to be a full throttle action packed sporting event for the next two months.

One of the major advantages of living in Dallas, the players claim is the weather especially around October and November. The 20-20 format is easy, convenient and can even be played under the flood lights.

Kicking off the 3rd season of the Dallas Premier League commissioner Pratap Reddy Bhimireddy alongside NTCA President Shahanawaz welcomed the playing teams who were specially auctioned and made the cut to the top contesting 6 teams.

Pratap thanked the sponsors, volunteers and chairs of the various committees who immensely contributed to the successful opening of the 3rd season of the DPL.

Among them were Mayuri Indian Restaurant who will provide food to all players post-game for the entire season. MyDealsHub, PepsiCo for sponsoring drinks on field and to each owner owning the team.

Ravi Nellutla, Chair for all committees, Ravi Govin, Operational Chair, Sunil Joshi, Co-Chair, Aziz Savul, Umpiring Chair, Venkat Annapareddy, Food Committee Chair, Venkat Danda, Volunteer Chair, KC Chekuri, Media Chair were all commended during the inaugural ceremony.

IANT past president Dr. Sridhar Reddy Korsapati, IANT Community Chair Bhima Penta, TANTEX President Dr. Narsimha Reddy Urimindi were among present during the ceremony and wished all the luck to the players. Pratap Bhimireddy later thanked media partners Yuva Media, DesiPlaza, Satheesh Punnam for covering the event.
