TRS MLAs' poaching case: Accused get bail

After a gap of 36 days, all the three accused in the sensational Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLAs’ poaching case being probed by a special investigation team (SIT) of the Telangana police secured bail from the state high court on Thursday.

The accused – Ramachandra Bharati from Faridabad, Nanda Kumar from Hyderabad and Simhayaji Swamy from Tirupati – were granted bail on the condition that they should submit Rs 3 lakh each towards security along with two sureties.

The high court also asked the three accused not to leave Hyderabad and appear before the SIT on every Monday to sign the register and also whenever they are called for questioning.

Senior advocate L Ravi Chander argued their case, saying the accused were entitled to the bail as per the Supreme Court directions. They have been in judicial remand for the last 36 days, he said.

The three accused were caught red-handed by the Cyberabad police from a farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad on October 26, while they were luring the four TRS MLAs – Pilot Rohit Reddy, Guvvala Balaraju, B Harshavardhan Reddy and Rega Kantha Rao into the BJP by offering huge money, besides posts and contracts.

The entire sting operation was conducted by the Cyberabad police on the directions of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who later leaked the video clippings of the operation to the media on November 3.
