With top national leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress making a beeline to Telangana, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi leadership appears to be in jitters, as they are building up the anti-establishment sentiment among the people.
While BJP national president J P Nadda addressed a huge public rally at Mahabubnagar, Congress president Rahul Gandhi would be coming to Warangal to address a public meeting and make a Warangal Declaration on farmers’ policies.
In another one week, top BJP leader and Union home minister Amit Shah will be attending the concluding public meeting of state BJP president Bandi Sanjay at Maheshwaram. Several top BJP leaders are expected to attend the meeting.
There is also a talk that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting Telangana on a day’s visit on some official programme in the last week of May.
Though he may not address any public meeting, his arrival would definitely give a boost to the morale of the BJP cadres.
The Congress party sources said Rahul Gandhi would be coming to Telangana hereafter once in two or three months to address a series of rallies. It would give a big boost to the party cadres.
Naturally, the visit of these leaders has become a matter of concern for the TRS. The TRS leaders, particularly party working president K T Rama Rao and his sister-MLC K Kavitha are questioning the visit of the national leaders of the BJP and the Congress.
On Friday, KTR tweeted in a sarcastic tone: “We welcome Rahul Gandhi to a study tour, let him learn the best farmer friendly practices of Telangana & implement in Congress-ruled failed states.
Simultaneously, his sister Kavitha asked Rahul Gandhi as to how many times he raised the issues of Telangana in Parliament.
“As Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji arrives in Telangana today, I sincerely request him to introspect on the following. How many times have you raised the issues of Telangana in Parliament?” she asked.
Kavitha also sought to know why the Congress party was silent while TRS party was fighting with the Union government over the uniform paddy procurement policy, national status for irrigation projects, discrimination in establishing educational institutions, releasing of pending GSTs and grants etc.
“As many as 11 states are emulating KCR schemes, you are welcome to learn and understand from our state as well,” she added.
