Telangana: Governor On A TV Show - A New Low?

Telangana: Governor On A TV Show - A New Low?

Every constitutional position has some respect and responsibility and the office of the Governor is highly protocol guided.

ABN’s Open Heart With RK is one of the not so highly respected TV programmes as its host doesn’t command any respect.

It is very unfortunate that Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan seems to have brought the office of the Governor to the lowest by being a participant to this TV show.

There were several Governors in the country in the past who used to work not as constitutional heads of the respective states but as direct loyalists of the ruling party.

Reminding them is the present TS Governor who is making political statements against the ruling party in the state but is loyal to the ruling party at the center. She has now become a guest for the TV show.

Being the first citizen of Telangana and the constitutional head of the state, one wonders what made the governor to become the guest for the TV show!

Going by the promo released by the channel, the Governor had also made some political statements and critical comments against TS chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

It is true that KCR is waging a battle against the BJP leadership and there are several top BJP leaders to challenge it.

But what made the Governor to represent the BJP and criticise the Chief Minister and that too through a TV show is to be answered by her.

She reminds the Telugu people of the role of Ram Lal and Kumudben Joshi who worked as Governors of undivided Andhra Pradesh and worked as representatives of Indira Gandhi and not as the representatives of the Constitution.

Tamilisai Soundararajan would join these two former Governors in lowering the Constitutional respect that the institutions command.

Good thing is that the Governor did not go to the TV studio for the interview. She allowed the Raj Bhavan hall to be converted into a temporary studio for the channel to host the show.
