Sharmila leaves for Delhi, to meet BJP leaders?

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister and YSR Telangana Party president Y S Sharmila left for New Delhi on Thursday, taking a break from her marathon padayatra in Telangana.

A spokesperson of the YSRTP said she would be meeting some Union ministers and lodge a complaint with them over the alleged massive corruption in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) executed by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

In the afternoon, Sharmila would address a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, where she would expose the corruption in KCR government and would also discuss YRSTP's plans for Telangana, the spokesperson said.

However, there are reports that Sharmila might meet some top Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Union home minister Amit Shah, to discuss the possibility of an understanding with the BJP in the next elections.

Though she has been attacking the KCR government and the TRS leaders, she has been a little softer towards the BJP all these days. So, there is no surprise if Sharmila will try to forge an alliance with the BJP in the next elections, say sources.

It may be mentioned that Jagan already has good equations the BJP national leadership, though in Andhra Pradesh, the local BJP leaders are making all sorts of allegations against him to prove their identity.

So, the BJP may not be averse to having an alliance with the YSRTP in Telangana and this will also help gain Jagan’s support in Telangana as well.

Moreover, by wooing Sharmila, the BJP might gain the advantage in districts like Khammam, Nalgonda and Warangal, where it is relatively weak.
