Selfish or Honest? Revanth Says He'll Be CM Again

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday openly admitted that he is a “selfish” politician with the ambition of ruling the state for a second consecutive term.

“Yes, I have a ‘selfish’ wish to return as Chief Minister for a second term. But I want to achieve it through hard work, not entitlement,” he said while speaking at the Guru Poojotsavam celebrations at Shilpakala Vedika, Madhapur.

He further added: “I admit I am selfish. If teachers do their work with dedication, I too want to become Chief Minister again. But I will not simply sleep in a farmhouse and demand to be made CM. I will work hard, just like you.”

Revanth Reddy criticised the previous government for “turning education into a business” and failing to recruit new staff. He alleged that even the historic Osmania University had been pushed to the brink of closure.

He emphasised that his government considers education a top priority and that he personally monitors the education department to resolve issues.

Reacting to his remarks, TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud confirmed that the Congress would contest the next elections under Revanth Reddy’s leadership.

“If legislators support him, Revanth Reddy will once again become Chief Minister,” he said.

Speaking to the media, Goud asserted that the party is moving forward by uniting ministers, MLAs, and MLCs and stressed that there would be “no compromise on discipline.”

On the issue of alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram project, Goud demanded a CBI probe, while admitting that “some lapses” exist in the agency itself.
