RTC deaths: Pawan blames insensitive politicians

The suicide by two employees of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) – driver D Srinivas Reddy of Khammam depot by setting himself ablaze and conductor B Surender Goud of Ranigunj depot in Secunderabad by hanging himself – has moved every sensitive heart.

So was that of power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan.

He said the “martyrdom” of RTC employees was heart-breaking and very unfortunate. He blamed it on the insensitive attitude of the politicians which led to these deaths.

“Srinivas Reddy’s life would have been saved had the people’s representatives intervened and spoken to him. It is disheartening to note that he is charred to death in front of his wife and children,” Pawan said.

The Jana Sena chief said the RTC employees were very much worried about the threat of losing jobs due to indifferent attitude of the government.

“The incidents are unfortunate even after much-anticipated formation of Telangana State. We can provide them compensation but cannot bring back their lives. The leaders in the government must think of it,” he said.

It is the responsibility of the government as well as the people’s representatives to ensure that not even a single life is lost further. The government must call the RTC unions for deliberations to withdraw their strike, Pawan said.
