Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has said that while he may not have pursued higher education in English, he possesses enough common sense to understand and act on important matters.
Speaking at an event, Revanth remarked, “In America, even a beggar can speak English. But in countries like Japan, China, and Germany, people may not know English, yet they are leading and dominating the world.”
His statement appeared to highlight that language proficiency, especially in English, should not be seen as the sole measure of intelligence or capability.
Revanth Reddy emphasised that determination, practical knowledge, and the ability to think critically play a far more important role in achieving success than just fluency in English.
The Chief Minister’s comments have sparked discussion, with supporters praising his focus on practical skills over academic elitism, while others debated the importance of English in a globalised economy.
