Punjab situation repeating in Telangana Cong!

That the Congress party never learns lessons from its electoral debacles has been proved several times. It is repeating in Telangana once again.

The present situation in Telangana Congress reminds one of the party in Punjab, where it lost the assembly elections only due to internal differences. Former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh was forced to step down a few months before the elections due to continuous rebellion by Pradesh Congress Committee president Navjot Singh Siddhu.

Subsequently, Amarinder quit the Congress to float his own party. Even after his exist, the party suffered from internal squabbles and finally, it faced a humiliating defeat in the hands of Aam Admi Party.

In Telangana, too, internal wrangling reached its peak. Not a single day passes with some or the other leaders of the Congress issue statements against PCC chief A Revanth Reddy, who is making his own efforts to rebuild the party to face the mighty Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

On Monday, a section of senior Congress leaders held a meeting at the residence of former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy and decided to fight against the hegemony of Revanth Reddy.

They want to take a delegation to Delhi to lodge a complaint with party president Sonia Gandhi against Revanth Reddy, stating that he was not taking the seniors along with him in taking crucial decisions on organising party programmes in the run up to 2023 assembly elections.

The seniors were apparently miffed with Revanth’s announcement that he would take up a tour of 119 assembly constituencies and 33 districts to bring Congress to power. They wonder how the PCC chief could take such an important decision without consulting them.

The meeting was attended by V Hanumanth Rao, J Geetha Reddy, Shyam Mohan, G Niranjan, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, D Sridhar Babu, T Jayaprakash Reddy, M Kodanda Reddy and Kamalakar Rao.

While exuding confidence that the Congress has bright chances of coming to power in the state, they felt that for all this to happen the party has to work as a team which was not happening now.

The seniors decided to submit to Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi that Congress will not be able to trounce TRS and stop the rise of BJP if Revanth continued to ignore the seniors and take unilateral decisions.

God save Congress party!
