Konda supports Eatala, but calls for new regional party

Strange are the ways of former MP from Chevella parliamentary constituency Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. He does not belong to any political party at present but he continues to make political statements that confuse everybody.

After quitting the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, he joined the Congress, but came out of it after the Nagarjunasagar by-elections in April this year. Since then, he has been keeping away from all political parties.

Interestingly, Vishweshwar Reddy extended support to former state health minister Eatala Rajender in the by-elections from Huzurabad assembly constituency.

Like the ex-MP, Rajender also quit the TRS, but joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and is contesting the by-polls on BJP ticket.

On Tuesday, Vishweshwar Reddy came to Jammikunta to campaign for Rajender extensively. In fact, he also sent a team of people to all parts of Huzurabad to distribute his open letters to the voters requesting them to support Rajender.

It led to the impression that the former MP is extending support to the BJP. But he sprang a surprise by saying though he was supporting Rajender personally because he was also a victim of highhandedness of the TRS leadership, he did not favour any national party.

“There is a need for a strong party to teach a fitting lesson to TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. But national parties like the Congress and the BJP cannot do this. There is a need for another strong regional party in Telangana,” he said.

What is more surprising is that Vishweshwar Reddy made these comments while addressing the reporters in the BJP office at Jammikunta. Calling for the emergence of a new regional party by sitting in the office of a national party was really shocking to the reporters.

But that is how Vishweshwar Reddy talks!
