Komatireddy to face the axe from Congress?

It appears days are numbered for Congress party’s Lok Sabha member from Bhongir parliamentary constituency Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in the party.

While the leak of an audio tape of his telephonic conversation with a party leader from Munugode created a flutter in the party, a video of Komatireddy telling a group of Telangana NRIs at Melbourne in Australia that the Congress won’t win the Munugode seat has created more tremors.

In the video which went viral in the social media and television channels, Venkat Reddy said the Congress won’t win the Munugode seat even if he campaigned for the candidate Palwai Sravanthi.

“At the most, she might poll 10,000 votes more, but she cannot win the seat. My brother Rajagopal Reddy is going to retain the seat with huge majority,” he was heard saying in the video.

Komatireddy went on to say that he had won as an MLA five times and had fought for Telangana.

“What do I gain now by fighting a losing battle? If the situation arises, I will retire from politics. I don’t have any groups in the Congress and I have offered to do padayatra to bring the party to power,” he said.

Meanwhile, senior leaders in the party have found fault with the Bhongir MP over the call recordings, which have gone viral on social media.

Former Minister Mohd Shabbir Ali said the issue would be discussed at a special meeting involving all the senior leaders.

It is learnt PCC chief A Revanth Reddy is contemplating lodging a complaint with the high command along with the audio and video messages of the Congress MP.

The high command is also said to be angry with Komatireddy and by the time he returns from Australia, he may get sacked from the party, sources said.
