KCR has now house in Hyderabad?

Now that Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and former chief minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao is out of power and Pragati Bhavan (renamed as Jyothiba Phule Praja Bhavan) has gone into the hands of the new dispensation, an interesting question is doing rounds in the media.

The question is: Where would KCR stay, if he comes to Hyderabad for his regular living, if he doesn’t stay in his farmhouse at Erravelli? In fact, he has constructed his own house in early 2000s’ itself at Nandinagar in Banjara Hills, in the adjacent lane of Basavarama Tarakam Hospitals.

It is from here that KCR had led the movement for separate Telangana and finally became the chief minister. It is quite big, but the lane is too narrow and congested and cannot accommodate large number of visitors. Moreover, in the last 10 years, the traffic in the area has also gone up.

Initially, KTR used to stay there after the construction of Pragathi Bhavan for the chief minister’s official bungalow. Later, he, too, shifted to Pragati Bhavan and was using the Nandinagar house to meet the party workers and holding other meetings.

Now, if KCR comes to Hyderabad, he has to stay either at Nandinagar residence or stay in Kavitha’s bungalow in Banjara Hills. But this is also quite a congested area where not many vehicles could be accommodated.

So, at a meeting with some of his party leaders at Pragati Bhavan, KCR reportedly told them that he doesn’t have a proper house in Hyderabad where he can meet the people and the party workers. “I have constructed a house for CM and a Secretariat for the government, but not my own house,” he lamented.

Obviously, KCR was trying to gain sympathy from the party leaders. No chief minister in the past required any spacious bungalow – whether it was YSR (before the CM bungalow was built) or N Chandrababu Naidu or K Rosaiah or Kiran Kumar Reddy.

In fact, YSR stayed in his private bungalow at Banjara Hills when he first became the chief minister. Naidu also has his own bungalow and operated from there even as the chief minister and Rosaiah never stayed at Begumpet bungalow but adjusted with his own house at Ameerpet.

For official work, they were regularly going to Secretariat and for party work, they would go to Gandhi Bhavan or NTR Bhavan as the case may be.

But KCR is a man who doesn’t want to move out of his house and he wants everything to be operated from his home. That is the problem.

In any case, KCR would not be able to do any normal activity for at least eight weeks due to hip fracture and once he is released from hospital, he would take rest at Pragati Bhavan!
