KCR forced to consider lockdown, finally!

At last, wisdom seems to have dawned upon the Telangana government led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the need to impose lockdown in the state, in view of the growing number of Covid-19 cases in Telangana and also neighbouring states.

KCR called for an emergency cabinet meeting at 2 pm on Tuesday at Pragati Bhavan to discuss the situation.

“In the wake of surge in Covid-19 cases in the State, the Cabinet is scheduled to discuss the issue of imposing lockdown in the State and take a decision,” an official release from the CMO said.

However, the officials said there have been reports that despite imposition of lockdowns in several states, it has not yielded desired results. Yet, there have been suggestions from various quarters over the need to impose lockdown in Telangana as well.

“There is a difference of opinion on impact the lockdown with certain sections of the society seeking a lockdown in the State. Under these circumstances, the Cabinet will discuss and decide on the lockdown,” the official release said.

The meeting will also discuss the impact of the lockdown on the ongoing paddy procurement process in the state, along with the pros and cons of imposing the lockdown.
