Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and former Telangana minister S Niranjan Reddy strongly, who is considered to be a staunch loyalist of former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has hit back at the latter’s daughter Telangana Jagruthi chief and MLC K Kavitha.
Reacting to Kavitha’s allegations against him, Niranjan accused her of damaging the reputation of women in Telangana and causing immense damage to then BRS with her alleged involvement in the liquor policy case.
“I had never been jailed nor earned a label like 'Liquor Queen.' Because of her involvement in liquor scam, the BRS was pushed to difficult situation during the last election campaign,” he said.
The BRS leader added that Kavitha’s actions had undermined the sentiments of women across the state.
He wondered why Kavitha was focusing her attacks solely on BRS leaders instead of raising issues affecting the public, at a time when the Congress government was completing two years in office.
He pointed out that she had been levelling allegations against senior BRS figures such as Sabitha Indra Reddy, Prashanth Reddy, Jagadish Reddy, and himself while remaining largely silent on Congress governance.
He challenged Kavitha to produce evidence supporting her accusations.
Referring to earlier political exchanges, Niranjan Reddy criticised Kavitha’s conduct regarding Telangana cultural practices, alleging that she projected herself as central to Bathukamma celebrations and Telangana Jagruthi activities.
He denied Kavitha’s claim that he belonged to former minister T Harish Rao’s camp. “I am entirely KCR’s man and I follow his direction.”
He also rejected allegations that he was responsible for filing 32 cases against BC members or that he influenced the burning of tahsildar office records, stating that such documents are also available at RDO and Collector offices.
Niranjan Reddy emphasised that in his four-decade political career, he had never filed politically motivated cases against anyone.
