The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Crime Investigation Department of state police against Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president and former minister K T Rama Rao and his sister MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, and others in connection with alleged irregularities in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
On Thursday, TCA officials met with CID Chief Charu Sinha to file a formal complaint.
They alleged that KTR and Kavitha were behind the irregularities in the HCA and cited the example of HCA President Jagan Mohan Rao, who had reportedly said that he "dedicated his victory" to KTR, Kavitha, and Harish Rao.
TCA urged a probe into several individuals, including John Manoj, Vijayanand, Purushottam Agarwal, Surender Agarwal, and Vanka Pratap.
The complaint was submitted by TCA President Yandala Lakshmi Narayana and Secretary Guruvareddy.
They claimed that Jagan Mohan Rao became HCA President due to political backing during the BRS regime and demanded an investigation into the involvement of political leaders who have no connection to cricket.
Along with the CID, TCA has also filed a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), alleging a money laundering angle in the HCA irregularities. ED had earlier sought complete details from the CID regarding the case.
Given the scale of financial irregularities — running into crores — the ED is expected to launch a probe and register an ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report) based on TCA’s complaint and CID inputs.
