ED Likely to Arrest K Kavitha's Family Members

Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials are poised to arrest certain family members of BRS MLC K. Kavitha in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.

On March 23, the residences of her nephew Meka Sri Sharan Rao and sister-in-law Akila were raided by the ED.

As Kavitha's police custody is set to conclude on Tuesday, the ED officials will present her before the Rouse Avenue court and submit a petition seeking an extension of two more days' custody to interrogate her alongside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

It has been reported that the officials primarily focused on her financial transactions and sources of income.

They interrogated her based on information obtained from her nephew Sharan Rao's mobile data, suspecting his involvement in transferring ₹100 crore to Delhi and disbursing funds to AAP leaders as per her instructions. Presently, he is evading authorities.

Allegedly, Kavitha has vehemently denied engaging in any illicit activities, attributing the case against her to political vendetta.

Earlier, the court stipulated that the ED custody of the accused must adhere to the same terms and conditions, including interrogation at a location equipped with CCTV cameras and the preservation of footage.

Kavitha may be allowed to meet her family members, including her husband Dr. Anil Kumar, brother K.T. Rama Rao, sister-in-law M. Manjula, son D. Aaditya, sister B. Nanitha, and aides Sharath Chandra and advocate P. Mohith Rao.

Kavitha requested the ED to permit her to consume home-cooked meals in order to adhere to her medically prescribed diet, a request which the court granted.
