Dubbak debacle: KTR puts up brave front

The defeat in Dubbak by-elections, albeit with a slender margin of nearly 1500 votes, has terribly upset the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, but the party leadership tried to put up a brave front saying the defeat did not make much difference to the party.

TRS working president and state IT minister K T Rama Rao told reporters after the result that his party would honour the people’s verdict and do a thorough introspection of what had gone wrong in Dubbak.

“We are neither upset with defeats nor do we feel jubilant with victories. We thank 62,000-odd voters who voted for the TRS in Dubbak. Thanks also to all party leaders and cadres including minster Harish Rao for their relentless efforts,” he said.

He said his party did not expect the result in Dubbak.

“We thought we shall win the seat. We had won several victories in the last six years. It is a wakeup call for our party leaders and cadres,” he said.

“We shall also analyse the reasons and introspect ourselves. We shall go ahead with welfare and developmental activities and win the confidence of the people. We shall work out the future course of action,” KTR added.
