Amit Shah to address rally in Nirmal, not Huzurabad!

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is coming to Telangana on September 17 to address a public meeting to be organised by Bharatiya Janata Party.

However, it is not in poll-bound Huzurabad assembly constituency, where former minister and BJP candidate Eatala Rajender is contesting the upcoming by-election, but in the district headquarters of Nirmal.

All these days, Rajender has been pinning his hopes on Shah’s visit to Huzurabad which he thought would brighten his chances of victory due to tough fight from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

But for strange reasons, the BJP state leadership has chosen Nirmal town as the venue for Shah’s visit and the occasion was “Telangana Liberation Day” on September 17, the day when Hyderabad was merged with Indian Union in 1948.

BJP sources claimed about 1,000 people fighting against the Razakars and Nizam were hanged from a banyan tree at Nirmal.

“The meeting is being organised to commemorate the sacrifices of freedom fighters who fought against the Nizam and Razakars and the merger of erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad (under Nizam rule) with the Indian Union,” Telangana BJP general secretary G Premender Reddy said.

The BJP has been demanding that the day be celebrated officially as 'Telangana Liberation Day'.

“Amit Shah will be addressing the rally as the chief guest and he will expose the conspiracy by the TRS government in not celebrating the event officially, though neighbouring Maharashtra and Karnataka does the same in the districts which were part of the erstwhile Hyderabad state,” he said.

He alleged that the TRS is not celebrating the day officially so as to please the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM.
