Amid Corona crisis, Kaleshwaram works continue!

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has a tough task before him. He has to take care of the needs of the people at the time of Coronavirus crisis and see that the disease is not spread.

At the same time, KCR should also see that the developmental works will not come to a halt. At a time when the entire state, including business, commerce, industry, education and various other sectors have come to a grinding halt due to lockdown, the chief minister is ensuring that the irrigation project works do not stop.

Even as the state is reeling under severe financial crisis due to sharp fall in revenue from all sectors, the KCR government quietly issued a government order giving administrative sanction for Rs 20,000 crore to continue the ongoing works on Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.

The irrigation department authorities are working in shifts in the wake of Coronavirus scare, but have seen to it that the projects works are going on at any cost. For example, the works on Mallannasagar reservoir under Kaleshwaram project are going on in full swing.

Finance Minister T Harish Rao, who inspected the project works, directed that the authorities expedite land acquisition pertaining to Left and Right bank canals of Mallanna Sagar project, distributary canals and minor canals, besides the completion of Ranganayaka Sagar Project.

Terming the construction of Kaleshwaram Project, reservoirs and canals as a historical work in the history of Telangana, he urged them to play a vital role in completing such an important work. Since they were digging up canals to supply Godavari water to all the villages by filling lakes and irrigation tanks besides improving the groundwater table, Rao observed that the efforts they put in would change the face of the villages forever.

The Minister further instructed the officials to continue the works of all the important projects in Siddipet district even as they follow the guidelines of the lockdown.
