The cold war between two ministers in the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet is getting intensified with every passing day creating a lot of headaches to the Telugu Desam Party leadership.
Minister for roads and buildings Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, who has been strongly resisting the hegemony of his cabinet colleague form Visakhapatnam minister for higher education Ganta Srinivasa Rao, is virtually creating sleepless nights to the latter.
First, it was the Visakhapatnam land scam, in which Ayyanna is understood to have handed over crucial files to the Special Investigating Team on the involvement of Ganta and his men in the scam.
Now, in the latest episode, Ayyanna made allegations, albeit indirectly, over the involvement of some “bigwigs” within the ruling party in the rampant ganja smuggling in the district.
He sald the police had failed to control ganja cultivation and trade in Visakhapatnam agency, because of the involvement of the big people within the ruling party.
The TDP leaders say Ayyanna was obviously referring to Ganta, as it was only recently that the latter had conducted a recent review meeting on the ganja trade.
Ayyanna said such review meetings would not be of any help, as long the big people were involved in the trade.
He said the police, excise officials and forest officials were aware as to how ganja was being transported from Visakhapatnam to other states and they also know who were involved in the trade, he alleged.
