Opinion: Chiranjeevi And Rashmika- A Playful Moment

Megastar Chiranjeevi recently praised Rashmika as a national and international crush and added with a subtle wink that she is also his own crush.

In his typical playful style, he shared how Nagarjuna had openly called Rashmika his crush, implying that she was also Chiranjeevi’s, though he wouldn’t say it openly.

The remark sparked laughter and pride from Rashmika, but soon drew sharp criticism from some sections of social media, accusing Chiranjeevi of inappropriateness due to their age difference.

This is not a new phenomenon. Since the era of ANR, senior heroes have always engaged in flirtatious banter as part of their persona. These mass heroes, known for captivating the masses, often carry this charm to pre-release events and success meets.

It's part of their public image, allowing them to connect with their audience in an affectionate, light hearted manner.

Importantly, this is rarely done by younger heroes, as the media and public quickly spin such remarks into speculation about relationships.

In contrast, when veteran actors like Chiranjeevi make such comments it is seen as an expression of admiration for beauty and grace. It serves as a celebratory nod to the heroines who are an integral part of their films.

If young heroes don’t praise heroines’ grace for fear of gossip, and senior heroes stay silent fearing criticism about their age, then who will acknowledge a heroine’s beauty in an industry where female leads are celebrated for their glamour and charm?

Let us adopt a broader view and understand the context. Such playful exchanges add a sprinkle of entertainment to promotions and events. They uplift the industry’s atmosphere, making it more welcoming and vibrant.

Instead of narrowing our perspectives and living in self imposed darkness, it’s worth appreciating these moments for what they truly are expressions of mutual respect and affection within the world of cinema.

Stay open, stay entertained, and enjoy the charm of timeless film celebrations.
