Indians lead the way in celebrating International Yoga Day

Spearheading the campaign to spread the practice of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen performing yoga at the Prabhat Tara School Maidan in the state capital of Jharkhand, Ranchi.

At the same time, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Prakash Javadekar were seen practicing Yoga at Rajpath in New Delhi.

KCR launches world's largest lift irrigation project

The world's largest multi-stage, multi-purpose lift irrigation project Kaleshwaram was dedicated to the nation by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday.

The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), which promises to change the face of India's youngest state, was inaugurated in the presence of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The inaugural ceremony was held at Medigadda barrage in Jayashankar Bhupalapally district near the borders with Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

How'll a man give allowance if arrested: Owaisi on Triple Talaq bill

Talking about Triple Talaq bill, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said the bill is unconstitutional and if it becomes a law, it'll be even greater injustice against women.

"If a man gets arrested, how will he give allowance from jail?" he added. "He'll be jailed for 3 years but marriage will be intact...What law is PM Narendra Modi forming?" he added.

Disqualify those who defected to BJP: 5 TDP MPs urge Venkaiah Naidu

A day after four Rajya Sabha MPs of the Telugu Desam Party defected to the BJP, the TDP's remaining five MPs met the Chairman of the Upper House and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, urging him to disqualify their former colleagues.

Terming the merger of the former TDP MPs with the saffron party as "illegal," the five MPs also went into a huddle to explore legal options against the move.

"The Rajya Sabha Chairman has told the representation of the five TDP MPs that he will examine the submission made to him. We are waiting for his response. We are also exploring legal options in the meanwhile," a TDP spokesperson told IANS.

Subba Reddy to take over as TTD chief

As expected, the YSR Congress party government headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday cleared the appointment of his uncle and senior party leader Y V Subba Reddy as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board.

Jagan Reddy signed the file pertaining to Subba Reddy’s appointment as the TTD trust board chairman and a government order to this effect will be issued by evening. Subba Reddy will take charge as the TTD chairman at 11 am on Saturday.

People in New Zealand can now vote at supermarkets, malls

New Zealand has allowed placing ballot boxes in supermarkets and malls to make it easier for people to vote. The government has brought in other changes, including introducing same-day enrolment for voters and measures to make voting from overseas easier.

"It's important that ballot boxes are placed where people are going about their normal business," Justice Minister Andrew Little said.

In the England versus Afghanistan World Cup 2019 clash, skipper Eoin Morgan tore apart Afghan bowlers with a brilliant 71-ball 148. However, the English batters took a liking towards Rashid Khan and the wily spinner returned with figures of 9-0-110-0 – worst-ever by any bowler in World Cup history.

While Rashid took the below-par performance on his chin and vowed to bounce back stronger, he took a jibe at his criticisers by stating, “People forget 10 good days and conveniently remember that one particular bad day.”
