Leena Gandhi Tewari, chairperson of USV Pvt Ltd, has made one of India’s costliest home purchases.
She bought two sea-facing duplexes in Mumbai’s Worli area for Rs 639 crore.
Located in the upscale Naman Xana tower, the homes span the 32nd to 35th floors and cover over 22,500 square feet. At Rs 2.83 lakh per sq. ft., the deal sets a new real estate price record in the country.
Tewari leads a top pharmaceutical firm founded by her grandfather in 1961.
Under her leadership, USV operates in over 75 countries and expanded globally with the purchase of Germany’s Juta Pharma in 2018. She holds degrees from Mumbai University and Boston University.
Her record-breaking buy is part of a trend among India’s ultra-rich.
Recent big purchases include Uday Kotak’s Rs 400+ crore Worli property, the Poonawallas' Rs 500+ crore home in Cuffe Parade, and Damani’s Rs 1,238 crore buy in Worli.
