Indian Cricketer To Get Engaged To Politician On June 8

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to get engaged to Priya Saroj, a politician from the Samajwadi Party.

With his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) now concluded, the 27-year-old batter is turning his attention to personal milestones.

The engagement ceremony is scheduled for June 8 at a hotel in Lucknow.

Rumours of Rinku and Priya already being engaged had circulated earlier on social media when reports first emerged about their relationship. However, it has now been confirmed that the official engagement will take place this month.

Priya’s father, Tufani Saroj — an MLA from the Samajwadi Party — had earlier confirmed the relationship, stating that both families had been consulted.

Speaking to ANI, he said, “Both the children have expressed their desire to get married and have sought our permission. The engagement has not taken place yet. Initial talks have taken place in this regard.”

On the professional front, Rinku had a modest IPL 2025 season, scoring 206 runs at an average of 29.42 and a strike rate of 153.73. KKR had a disappointing season, finishing eighth on the points table with just five wins from 14 matches.

Despite a lukewarm IPL, Rinku remains a key part of India’s T20I squad. In 30 T20I matches, he has scored 507 runs at an average of 46.09 and a strike rate of 165.14, including three fifties. He made his T20I debut in 2023 against Ireland.

Rinku has also featured in two ODIs and boasts impressive List-A numbers, with 1,899 runs in 52 innings at an average of 48.69 and a strike rate of 94.8, including one century and 17 half-centuries.
