Russia has strongly refuted recent Pakistani media claims about expanding economic cooperation with Pakistan.
Reports had suggested that Moscow was planning to set up joint steel mills in Karachi following a May 13 meeting between Pakistani official Haroon Akhtar Khan and Russian envoy Denis Nazirov.
However, Russian officials dismissed these claims as false and exaggerated. They clarified that no multibillion-dollar agreement was signed and accused certain groups in Pakistan of spreading misinformation.
According to Moscow, the purpose of such fake news is to disrupt the close strategic relationship between India and Russia — especially after India’s recent Operation Sindoor against terror camps in Pakistan and PoK.
A senior Russian representative emphasized that the media reports were aimed at sensationalizing ties that currently do not exist at any major economic level.
