Bharatiya Janata Party MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy sparked discussion on social media after expressing surprise over the profession listed for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha’s official “Who’s Who” publication.
The incident occurred during a break in the ongoing Lok Sabha session when several MPs, including Raghunandan Rao, visited the Parliament cafeteria for tea.
During the break, Vishweshwar Reddy browsed through the “Who’s Who” book distributed by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, which contains personal and professional details of Members of Parliament.
The publication lists information such as educational qualifications, professional background, and personal interests of MPs.
While reviewing the profiles, the BJP MP noticed that Rahul Gandhi’s profession was listed as “Strategy Consultant”.
Vishweshwar Reddy later shared the observation on social media, noting that his own profession was correctly listed as “Engineer”.
According to parliamentary records, Rahul Gandhi worked in management consulting abroad before entering politics, which explains the description of his profession in the Lok Sabha documentation.
“The Lok Sabha published a book on Who's Who in the Lok Sabha. I looked up what is mentioned about me and a few other MPs... Our personal details, our professional background our interests etc. My profession is rightly mentioned as an "Engineer" I looked up Rahul Gandhi. His profession is mentioned as a "Strategy Consultant" I was a bit surprised,” Konda Vishweshwar Reddy said.
He clarified that the “Who’s Who” book is compiled using information submitted by MPs themselves. The profession mentioned typically reflects their career or expertise prior to entering politics.
His social media post highlighting the detail has since gone viral, drawing reactions from political observers and netizens.
