Ex-CM's Death: When A Lucky Number Becomes Fate

Ex-CM's Death: When A Lucky Number Becomes Fate

For former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the number 9 was more than just numerology — it was his guiding star.

He believed it shaped his destiny. That belief is what led him to favor the number 1206, as the digits add up to 9 (1+2+0+6). It adorned all his vehicles—scooters, cars, and everything in between.

But fate has a twisted sense of irony.

On June 12 (12/06)—the same number he cherished—Rupani tragically lost his life in a plane crash. He was a passenger on Air India flight AI171, which crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad.

Shockingly, the flight number 171 also adds up to 9 (1+7+1). A number he once saw as lucky seemed to follow him right into his final moments.

Rupani had been on his way to London to spend time with his wife and daughter. The journey was meant to be a quiet family reunion — one that never happened.

What makes the tragedy more haunting is the eerie coincidence between his favorite number and the date of his passing.

A symbol he trusted throughout his life became the marker of his untimely end, adding a chilling layer of irony to an already heartbreaking event.
