In politics, it is very important to speak carefully. A single sentence can create many meanings and misunderstandings. Sometimes, instead of gaining anything, leaders end up damaging their own image.
It becomes like the saying, “An elephant throws mud on its own head.”
Looking at the recent statements of YSR Congress Party senior leader, Rajya Sabha floor leader, and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s uncle, YV Subba Reddy, this point becomes very clear.
Subba Reddy, who served twice as TTD Chairman during Jagan’s rule, is now involved in several controversies.
He is facing SIT questioning in cases related to fake ghee supplied for laddu making and the Parakamani theft case.
Because of these issues, he is forced to face the media and answer questions. But the way he is talking is raising even more doubts about him.
Here are the situations he is talking about:
Regarding the fake ghee case, Subba Reddy says that he never had any need to take bribes. He claims that a TTD Chairman has many other ways to make money, so he had no reason to indulge in corruption over ghee.
About his former PA, Chinna Appanna, who is involved in the same ghee scam, he says it is true that Appanna once worked as his PA, but after 2019 he was appointed to AP Bhavan in Delhi by the government. He says any transactions in Appanna’s bank accounts have nothing to do with him.
When asked about Appanna frequently visiting Tirumala, he says Appanna might have come for Darshan when he was Chairman, but those visits have no connection to him.
On the Parakamani theft case, he says that many devotees donate their property to TTD, and he assumed Ravikumar’s properties were similar donations. He claims he did not know anything about the theft.
After reading these statements, none of them sound believable. His first statement itself gives the impression that he had many other ways of making illegal money.
Saying that his former PA was appointed to AP Bhavan without his knowledge sounds like a joke. Claiming he did not know if Appanna was visiting Tirumala is another joke.
And saying he thought the stolen properties were donations is the height of comedy.
By speaking to the media like this, Subba Reddy is creating more suspicion among the people, making them feel he might actually be the main culprit.
The sad part is that YSR Congress leaders don’t seem to understand the seriousness of this.
The biggest surprise is that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy appointed someone who doesn’t know how to speak properly as the party’s Rajya Sabha floor leader.
Truly unfortunate!
