After much dilly dallying, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu finally cleared the name of Putta Sudhakar Yadav senior TDP leader from Mydukuru in Kadapa district, as the new chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board.
According to official sources, orders are likely to be issued in a day or two.
The chief minister is presently doing exercise on the members of the TTD trust board and once their names are cleared, the entire board would be announced, sources said.
In fact, Yadav’s name was finalised by Naidu in September itself and was conveyed to the former.
Yadav even celebrated the news and thanked the boss before the media for the prestigious appointment. But even before the name was officially announced, controversies surfaced over his faiths.
Some sections complained to Naidu that Sudhakar Yadav is not a chaste Hindu, but has Christian connections.
Thallayapalem Siva peetam head Siva Swamy raised a strong objection saying Yadav was closely associated with Christian Associations and that he had attended many Christian meetings.
The TTD Chairman post should be given to a person who is a Hindu 100% by faith, he said.
This forced Naidu to go into second thoughts and he ordered officials to make enquiries about Yadav’s faith.
In the meantime, there were reports that Naidu finalised the name of veteran director K Raghavendra Rao as the TTD chief. Raghavendra Rao, however, denied the reports.
And finally, Naidu got a clean chit for Yadav and therefore, finalised his name, sources said.
