Will new media house help T-Congress?

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy’s latest announcement that the party would come out with its own media house – a new daily newspaper and a television channel – has come as a surprise to many.

Uttam believes that the Congress party is not able to reach out to the people properly, as it was not getting enough coverage in the existing media.

Almost all the Telugu dailies and channels have become puppets in the hands of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi and have been giving only one-sided news.

Even if there are any major agitations taken by the Congress party with regards to issues concerning people like the recent Nerella Dalits incident, these media houses including Eenadu, Andhra Jyothy or Sakshi, have not been giving any proper coverage.

“They are giving only positive coverage to KCR government and not projecting its failures. Hence, our party has decided to launch our own media house,” Uttam said.

But, one doubts whether the people would go by newspaper or channel coverage while voting for a particular party.

No doubt media is a powerful tool, but the Congress party cannot win the elections just by launching its own media.

The party has to set its house right first, all its leaders should shun their egos and differences and work together and then take the fight effectively into the people by launching agitations.

If they want to do it only for the sake of media coverage, they can never dream of defeating the TRS.
