Why Was Jaya Buried So Hurriedly?

The way the body of departed Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa was laid to rest within a few hours of her death caused shock and anguish to thousands of her fans across the state.

When such big personalities with celebrity status died in the past, their bodies were laid in state for more than 24 hours to enable people pay their last respects.

When former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N T Rama Rao, a godly figure for the people died in 1996, his body was kept at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad for more than 36 hours for the sake of his fans.

When Y S Rajasekhar Reddy died in a helicopter crash, too, his body was laid in state for more than 24 hours at his Begumpet residence.

And when godman Satya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi passed away, the body was laid to rest only three days after his death.

So, why was Jayalalithaa’s body buried so hurriedly? Several sections of people strongly believe that she had died soon after the cardiac arrest and that the authorities did not reveal it since there were several formalities to be completed with regard to power transfer and her properties.

“By the time everything was cleared, the body might have already reached the stage of decomposition and hence, she had to be buried so early,” said a source.

Others believe that since she had been given high doses of antibiotics, the body might have been damaged hence, early burial.
