Why These Victory Rallies, Mr Naidu?

Why These Victory Rallies, Mr Naidu?

At a time when the people of Andhra Pradesh are feeling humiliated with the Centre ignoring the Special category status and implementation of majority of the assurances given in the AP Reorganisation Act, the victory rallies taken out by the Telugu Desam Party MPs have come in for some sharp criticism.

No doubt, the TDP MPs raised their voice strongly in the Parliament stalled the proceedings for five consecutive days, but it was their duty and there was nothing victorious that emerged out of their agitation.

No doubt, TDP MP from Guntur Galla Jayadev spoke excellently in Lok Sabha and attacked the NDA government for not fulfilling the promises given to AP. But that does not mean he has achieved a big victory.

So, when Jayadev and another MP K Rammohan Naidu took out a victory rally in Guntur with thousands of TDP workers showering petals on them, it made people wonder what they had achieved for the state.

“Except tall promises, the Centre has not given anything to state concretely so far and several key issues are still pending. One can understand if the MPs take out a rally, if they really got any money from the Centre. Just because an MP spoke well in the House, it does not call for celebrations, because it is his duty to do so,” a senjor journalist observed.

The people are also criticising Jayadev for not talking about special category status and confining himself only to special package.

“Even the funds in the package are not forthcoming. So, why these celebrations?” the journalist asked.

Interestingly, even the other TDP MPs are also said be not happy with Jayadev trying to project himself as the only leader in the party to have raised his voice.

“It is obvious that Jayadev is desperate to win his MP seat again with such a hype, as he has lost the confidence of the people in the constituency,” a TDP leader said.
