Telugu people in the US are now busy with their annual conferences – being organised by North America Telugu Association (NATA) which is dominated by Reddys settled in the USA and Telugu Association of North America (TANA), comprising mostly bigwigs from Kamma community.
The NATA conference was held at Dallas, TXT, from June 30 to July 2 and was attended by prominent Reddy politicians, industrialists and big business people from the community.
Majority of these Reddy politicians are from YSR Congress party and the concluding session was addressed virtually by YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Similarly, all prominent Kamma leaders, industrialists and big business people are descending on Philadelphia to take part in the TANA conference to be held from July 7 to 9, at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre.
Many of them have already engaged in holding get-togethers and parties, ahead of the TANA conference. One such party was hosted by Naveen Yerneni during the week-end and it was attended by who’s who of Kamma businessmen, politicians and film personalities.
Though not a Kamma, rebel YSR Congress party parliament member Kanumuru Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju attended the get-together, along with leaders like C Kutumba Rao and Kamineni Srinivas. It was no surprise, as Raju has been hobnobbing with the TDP leaders for quite some time.
But what was surprising was the presence of a prominent Reddy legislator of YSR Congress party from Rayalaseema, who is said to be very close to Jagan and enjoys a lot of clout in the Chief Minister’s Office.
Sources said this gentleman flew down from Dallas to Detroit exclusively to attend the party and moved closely with the Kamma leaders.
One would not have surprised had he exchanged pleantries with the TDP or BJP leaders of Kamma community, but what shocked everybody was the way he was enjoying the company of Raghurama Raju, who is a bitter critic of Jagan and the YSRC.
Interestingly, the YSRC MLA ensured that his visit is kept confidential and the pictures of his presence in the party don’t appear anywhere.
