Who Are The Biggest Losers In 2014 Polls?

The biggest losers in the 2014 elections were not political parties and their candidates who had great expectations on their victory. The losers were astrologers as they could not produce any decent results in their predictions.

This was revealed by Humanists, Rationalists and Science supporters, who met in Hyderabad in connection with the International Humanist Day on Saturday.

Chief guest Prof Narendra Nayak, president of the Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations, said that he had posed a Rs 10 lakh challenge to astrologers, and the best performer in the challenge scored only seven correct answers out of 20 questions.

Babu Gogineni, science supporter, said that he had also thrown a Rs 10 lakh challenge in 2014 elections in which three astrologers participated, but no one had succeeded even with five per cent marks.

Jeedi Veeraswamy, Dalit leader from Suryapet, pointed out that the costly superstitions of the rich and educated classes were creating an atmosphere where reason is taking a step back in personal and public lives and is enabling even more dangerous superstitions related to sorcery and with-craft to spread in the society.

NVR, General Secretary of Manava Vikas Vedika, which organized the meeting, said that a recent claim by an astrologer that he predicted the Beas River tragedy was bogus, and shortly these claims would be exposed.
