Where is your vision, Konathala asks Naidu

Former minister Konathala Ramakrishna, who has been virtually jobless in politics ever since he came out of the YSR Congress party a couple of years ago, seems to have decided that attacking ruling Telugu Desam Party and its president N Chandrababu Naidu is the only way to get into political limelight.

Konathala has been waging a war against the state government for neglecting the north coastal Andhra districts of Vizianagaram, Visakhpatnam and Srikakulam.

He has been regularly writing letters to Naidu over the step-motherly attitude towards the north coastal Andhra.

On Monday, Konathala recalled that people had voted Naidu to power after bifurcation of the State as they believed he had a vision. Naidu also promised equal importance to all districts in development.

“However, he continued to neglect the north coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema which remained backward with no signification developmental work,” he regretted.

He pointed out that already six medical institutions have come up in Amaravati region and another seven institutions were in the pipeline.

“It’s not fair to confine development to one region as there would be a danger of history repeating itself,” he said.

Konathala said the government was neglecting Visakhapatnam which was well-connected by road, rail, air and sea.

“So far, no decision has been taken on separate railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters though we have been demanding it for nearly two decades. Also, the metro rail project remains only on paper,” he pointed out.

“North Andhra has 70 per cent of the tribals living in the State. They have not asked for the moon. Still they are languishing in poverty. We have not demanded Vizag as capital city for State. We want them to just implement their pre-election promises,” he said.
