Vijayawada Will Be Temporary Capital of AP

If the reports coming from Telugu Desam Party are to be believed, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is inclined to have a temporary capital for his State.

Naidu held a meeting with Capital Advisory Committee members here on Tuesday. He reportedly favoured a temporary capital in Vijayawada till completion of construction of new capital which would have world standard facilities. He reported to have directed the officials to explore possibilities for a temporary capital.

According to reports, Medha, the hi-tech city located at Gannavaram might as well turn out to be the official complex for the temporary capital.

The L&T Hitech City Limited, a joint venture of the L&T Infocity and the Andhra Pradesh State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (APIIC), constructed the Hitech City on the 30-acre site at Gannavaram at an outlay of Rs 450 crores.

Naidu was of a view that new capital should be in the centre of the State and reachable to the people from across the State. Sivaramakrishnan Committee is likely to submit its report by the end of this month on the issue of new capital of AP.
