Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which has been closely watching the high-voltage political drama going on in Telangana Telugu Desam Party over the reports of Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy’s plans to defect to the Congress party, hopes to cash in on the crisis in the TDP.
TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is understood to have told his cabinet colleagues not to make any statements on the ongoing internal war in the TDP till the crisis precipitates.
“Even if the Telangana and Andhra TDP leaders drag our names into their internal wrangling, let us not react because it will only make the TDP more vulnerable in Telangana,” KCR is said to have told the ministers.
According to KCR’s assessment, Revanth’s resignation will create more problems not in the TDP but in the Congress party.
There are already too many leaders in the Congress with high ambitions and they would definitely not receive Revanth into the party whole heartedly.
Some of the senior Congress leaders might even look towards the TRS, he said and asked his cabinet colleagues to identify them and lure them into the TRS.
At the same time, KCR is learnt to have cautioned that Revanth should not be taken lightly and his every move should be watched carefully.
He is learnt to have instructed the officials to see that Revanth does not take any aggressive moves like leading the rallies or taking out yatras.
Whenever he makes such an attempt, the police would arrest him and till elections, Revanth would never get an opportunity to go into the people.
