Throwing Good Money After Bad

The APSRTC is consistently making losses despite umpteen numbers of measures and is always caught in a dispute of some sort with the government.

Against this backdrop, it was stunning to see AP Transport Minister, Siddha Raghava Rao announcing that 1100 new buses would be acquired by March 2015 along with 30 Volvo buses which would be allotted to Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam stations.

There is also a proposal to install GPS gadgets in around 1547 buses. Each GPS gadget costs around Rs 75,000.

Is the RTC making losses because of inadequate number of buses? And why should such expenditure be incurred on such a huge loss making body which has always proved to be a drain on the exchequer?

What is the need to acquire 1100 buses all of a sudden when there is clearly no such need?

This only seems to be a plan by the government to benefit from kickbacks in the name of development of APSRTC or  move with political motives behind it.
