Telugu Desam Party is part of the NDA and the Narendra Modi government. So, whatever decisions the Centre takes or whatever statements the Central ministers make, the TDP is also part of them.
If the TDP does not agree with the Modi government’s statements or decisions, it has to come out of the NDA to keep up its identity. This is the argument of YSR Congress party leaders.
Reiterating that special status is the core area of development of the state, YSR Congress has said that TDP should mount pressure on Centre as it is a coalition partner of NDA and should own up all the deeds of the Centre.
"The Centre is no different to the State as the NDA is the ruling coalition at the Centre and if Chandrababu Naidu cannot mount pressure on the special status Chandrababu Naidu should own up every cabinet decision including the rejection of special category status by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley," party leader Ambati Rambabu told reporters here on Sunday.
TDP MPs before the parliamentary party meeting had shown bravado and gave an impression that they would take some drastic action and the tie-up with BJP would be reviewed but after the meeting they fell silent and Chandrababu Naidu started speaking in a different tone as if they have nothing to do with the Centre though two of the members are still continuing in the cabinet, he said.
After the press conference of Chandrababu Naidu the need for protest has become more relevant and the August 2 bandh becomes more necessary and people from all walks of life should take part in the agitation, he said.
