TDP MLA sentenced to two year jail

Telugu Desam Party MLA from Denduluru in West Godavari district Chintamaneni Prabhakar on Wednesday received a big shock, when the local Bhimadole magistrate court sentencing him to two years imprisonment.

The punishment was given in connection with three different cases pertaining to attack on former Minister Vatti Vasant Kumar, his gunman and former MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao during Racha Banda programme in 2011.

The magistrate court imposed a six-month jail term to Chintamaneni Prabhakar and a fine of Rs 1,000 under Section 353 of the IPC on one case; two-year jail term and Rs 1000 fine under Section 506 of IPC In another case and six-months jail term and Rs 500 under Criminal Procedure Code Section 2.

The court said the MLA has to undergo the punishment simultaneously. So, he will have to serve in all two years imprisonment.

However, the court immediately granted bail to Prabhakar and permitted him to appeal to the higher court against the verdict.
