TDP Inches Towards National Party Status!

The Telugu Desam Party is slowly inching towards its goal of getting the national party status.

On Tuesday, the TDP recorded victory in the Municipal elections in Andaman and Nicabar Islands, thus tasting the first victory outside Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to get the national party status.

The TDP won two out of 24 wards in the Island. Of the 24 wards, BJP established majority by winning 10 seats followed by Congress six, TDP two, DMK and AIDMK one each and others four.  Another important development was the TDP secured second place in 16 wards.

Expressing happiness on the election results in the island, AP Deputy Chief Minister N Chinna Rajappa said, “It was the first victory for the TDP after becoming a national party".

The party would emerge stronger under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu, he said, adding that the TDP would soon spread its activities in other States also.
