TDP Gets Cold Response From Centre?

Telugu Desam Party MPs have started lobbying with the NDA government to get at least some benefits in the budget for the state as a face saving measure, but it looks like the response from the Centre is very cold.

On Monday evening, a five-member coordination committee of the TDP MPs comprising Sujana Chowdary, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Thota Narasimham, Avanti Srinivas and Konakalla Narayana met Union home minister Rajnath Singh to represent on the burning issues which are yet to be resolved by the Centre as per the AP Reorganisation Act.

The delegation had to wait for more than one and half hours to meet Rajnath and when they finally met, they were hardly given 15 minutes time.

They tried to explain the raw deal given to the state in the budget, but Rajnath told them that there was little that he could do and it would be better they go and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi again to solve the problem.

“Being the nodal agency for implementing the AP Reorganisation Act, our home ministry will act on whatever decision the Prime Minister takes,” Rajnath said.

With home minister throwing up his hands, the TDP MPs have decided that they continue the agitation, while trying to bring pressure on the Prime Minister.
