TDP cadres unhappy as Minister upstaged by father

The growing perception that Andhra Pradesh Labour Minister Vasamsetti Subhash holds little actual power — while his father, Vasamsetti Satyam, wields full control over constituency affairs — is causing significant discontent among Telugu Desam Party (TDP) cadres in Ramachandrapuram, Konaseema district.

This internal friction became evident during a recent TDP mini-Mahanadu event where Satyam presided over the proceedings, and Subhash was noticeably absent.

Party workers were reportedly irked by what they saw as a blatant disregard for party norms by the father-son duo, who only joined the TDP a year ago ahead of the elections.

According to sources, Subhash is seen as powerless, with even minor decisions requiring Satyam’s approval.

There are whispers that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu once reprimanded Subhash, and since then, the minister has struggled to assert authority or deliver on requests without his father's green light.

Among local TDP cadres, the consensus appears to be that no matter how hard they work for the party, it is Satyam who takes all the credit, while Subhash remains a sidelined figure.
