Ever since Chandrababu Naidu has come to power, singing legend SP Balu has been lavishing praise on the former at every possible opportunity.
When Vizag was ravaged by ‘Hudhud’, Balu praised the efforts of the TDP administration and Chandrababu.
The TDP used Balu’s praise as an endorsement on that occasion. And recently in Nellore, at an event, Balu once again showed his affection towards Naidu. But his comments left a lot of people bemused.
“The people have given the government a mandate for five years. So they should not criticize the government during these five years. If it is not possible for them to assist the government, they should step away and stay silent,” said SPB.
The government is accountable to the people and hence, the people have every right to criticize the government along with the opposition and the media. Cumulatively, they act as watchdogs of democracy.
When the Congress was in power, was Naidu himself not at the forefront shouting himself hoarse on every issue? Besides, following bifurcation, there are a lot of issues plaguing AP. A lot of promises have been made including the special status.
The TDP is doing nothing about it. So, should the people merely stay silent and take it in their stride? What is this Baluji? You may love the TDP but that doesn’t mean you display your affection through such extreme statements.
