Stage is said to be ready for anointing Telugu Desam Party general secretary and Andhra Pradesh information technology minister Nara Lokesh as the working president of the party.
According to party sources, TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is focussing on a major organisational revamp to strengthen the party structure from the grassroots level.
Naidu, who has already completed the exercise of appointment of district committees, is now working on the formation of state-committee and has decided to take up intensive deliberations.
As part of this effort, Naidu has convened a major workshop on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri. It will be attended by leaders from all 25 parliamentary constituencies.
According to sources, the workshop is expected to focus on strengthening party leadership. In this regard, Naidu will seek the opinion of all the leaders in entrusting key responsibilities of the party to Lokesh, sources said.
The workshop will also discuss the strategy to face the upcoming political challenges in the local bod elections, expansion of organisational capacity and effective coordination between government and party cadre
Party sources said the meeting will serve as a roadmap for TDP’s future political strategy, especially after its victory in the 2024 elections.
Source said Lokesh will play active role in the workshop and hold detailed consultations on assigning key responsibilities, balancing experienced leaders with new faces.
On Tuesday, Nara Lokesh is expected to spend the entire day at the party office, engaging directly with district leaders.
Sources say he may hold one-on-one discussions and play a central role in shaping youth leadership within the party.
