The Congress party on Saturday ridiculed chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for going ga ga over the victory of Telangana Rashtra Samithi-affiliated trade union in Singareni Collieries elections and running down the opposition parties.
“What is so great about Singareni elections? It is not a general election, but just a trade union election. KCR is feeling as if he has won the World Cup cricket tournament. But everybody knows how hard KCR and his team had fought to win the election for the sake of his daughter K Kavitha,” senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao said.
Former Congress MLA Gandra Venkatramana Reddy alleged that the Singareni elections were not held in free and frank atmosphere, as the TRS had distributed liquor and money in a big way, besides engineering defections from other unions. He said the Singareni officials had brought pressure on workers to cast their vote to the TRS union.
“The TRS leadership should make an introspection on how the party had won the Singareni elections. An MP distributed silver goods and Rs 10,000 to each voter. Over Rs 200 crore was spent on just a trade union election which is not at all a victory for the TRS,” he said.
Gandra said the TRS party would not win 2019 elections even though it does gimmicks in elections and it was sure that KCR will go to form house after 2019 elections permanently.
