It is pretty evident that the Congress party is facing severe identity crisis across the country. All is not well with the grand old party of India with one senior leader or the other leaving it, after realising that the party has little chances of bouncing back to power at the national level.
So, one can find any party in the country which is attacking the Congress now. Even the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has stated taking it lightly and is focussing on attracting as many leaders as possible from the Congress.
In fact, the BJP is more worried about the strong regional parties like Aam Admi Party, Janata Dal (U), Rashtriya Janata Dal, Trinamool Congress and Telangana Rashtra Samithi that are posing a big challenge to it in several states.
The Congress is no more a force to reckon with for the BJP. In fact, the Congress has more enemies within the party, than outsiders, who can damage it further. The party doesn’t need any critics from other parties.
Yet, YSR Congress party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy has been targeting the Congress on the social media regularly, making fun of its programmes and criticising the statements of Congress leaders.
On Wednesday, Sai Reddy lashed out at the proposed “Bharat Jodo Yatra” of party leader Rahul Gandhi, saying the party has no right to take it up.
“Congress’s ‘Bharat-Jodo’ Walkathon is misleading. Just because the Nehru Family cannot win an election doesn’t mean that India is broke. India was never broken, is not broken and will never be broken. The Padyatra should be renamed as Congress’s ‘Last Breath before death’. (sic),” Sai Reddy tweeted.
A couple of days ago, the YSRC leader made fun of the schedule announced by the Congress to elect its party president.
“Congress unfurled another gimmick announcing schedule for its Presidential election. Nobody outside the Nehru Clan will be allowed to function. Remember the persecution of PV Narsimha Rao, Jitendra Prasada, Sitaram Kesari and even Subhash Chandra Bose?” he pointed out.
Sai Reddy compared the demolition of twin towers in Noida the other day that of the collapse of the Congress party under Gandhis – Sonia and Rahul.
“The ‘Sab Chalta hai’ era under the Congress rule comes to a halt. Just like the twin towers, the twin leaders of Congress @RahulGandhi and Sonia Gandhi will also turn into debris after 2024. I hail the SC for this decision against the encroachers and the corrupt,” he tweeted.
On the exit of senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad from the Congress, too, Sai Reddy made a sarcastic comment on the party.
“This is what happens when security guards & PAs take decisions for Congress party, instead of its leaders … the doom is inevitable. Forget about the connect with people, this party doesn't even have connection with its own leaders & workers and the result is for everyone to see,” he said.
“Finally, he gets ‘Aazadi’ from the ‘Ghulami’ of the Nehru Dynasty. Congratulations @GhulamNAzad for this courageous step. It’s never too late to listen to your conscience,” Sai Reddy said, apparently to remind the similar exit of YSRC president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy from the grand old party in 2011.
It’s quite understandable on the part of Sai Reddy to express his jubilation over the collapse of the Congress leadership that sent him and his boss to jail for over 16 months by foisting the CBI cases against them. He is now taking vengeance with his comments on Twitter.
At the same time, Sai Reddy is apparently trying to impress upon the BJP leadership including Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his comments against the Congress and send a message that the YSRC is still a well-wisher of the BJP!
